Victron VDI-32 Galvanic Isolator (32 Amps)
Part No: VV-012
The Victron VDI-32 galvanic isolator consists of two internal diodes that are connected in anti-parallel fashion. When diodes are connected as such they allow current in both directions, but only above a threshold voltage of about 1.4 Vdc. The isolator is installed directly behind your boat's 230V connection. The forward voltage from the galvanic isolator is higher than the potential difference between metals, resulting in the voltage not being allow to conduct and as such, the galvanic isolator will prevent any electrolytic current. However, if there is a (higher) error voltage in the AC circuit, the diodes will allow current through and the residual-current device will break the circuit.
The Victron VDI-32 galvanic isolation electrolysis blocker is rated for a maximum current of 32 amps.
To meet the standard CE (ENISO 13297) the ground wire of the shore power installation must be connected to the boat's mass.
Please Note: The galvanic isolator blocker (also known as a zinc saver) should only be installed and tested by a professional due to the voltages and high temperatures in the VDI-32.
